WAUKEGAN, IL – Matthew L. Williams and Patrick A. Salvi of the law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., announced a $1 million settlement on behalf of a Peoria (Illinois) teenager who was injured after a car accident nearly took his life two years ago in Kickapoo Township. A lawsuit was filed in Peoria County in 2004.
On October 4, 2003, the Plaintiff, 15-years-old at the time, was a passenger in a 2003 Acura operated by his high school classmate. Attorney Matthew Williams alleged in the lawsuit that the Defendant lost control of the vehicle causing it to go off the roadway and flip several times. As a result, the Plaintiff suffered an injury to his cervical spine necessitating immediate spinal stabilization and surgery. He later underwent some occupational therapy following the surgery to improve his range of motion, function, and strength.
Through his hard work and determination, the Plaintiff, now a high school senior, is currently active in athletics and other activities.
“The family is very pleased with the result,” said Matthew Williams. “The settlement will be used in the event he has future medical issues related to the accident.”
