Attorneys Patrick A. Salvi and Kathleen A. McGinty obtained a $7 million Wrongful Death settlement on behalf of a family in a northwest suburb of Illinois. The lawsuit was filed back in May of 2001 and the Honorable Judge Locallo approved the settlement order today in Cook County.
On March 16, 2001, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Plaintiff, 42, was returning to Chicago from a short business trip in New York. It was at that time she was picked up at O’Hare International Airport by the Defendant, a limousine driver. The Defendant driver was traveling on a northbound highway in a snowstorm when he lost control of the limousine and crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic striking a Ford Mustang head-on.
Attorney Patrick A. Salvi, alleged that the Defendant failed to exercise his duty to decrease speed as required when special hazards exist by reason of weather or highway conditions to avoid colliding with any person or vehicle.
For over 11 years, the Plaintiff worked for the a well know financial information company in Chicago. She is survived by her husband and their two children.
The settlement will help the family move on with their lives", said Patrick A. Salvi. "Unfortunately this tragedy resulted in the untimely and unfortunate death of a successful, loving and caring wife, mother and business woman."
