Salmonella Cases Escalate After Waukegan Firm Filed Lawsuit

August 1, 2003

WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS – Principal Attorney Patrick A. Salvi of the law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. filed a lawsuit on Friday, July 18th on behalf of 8 salmonella victims due to the outbreak at Chili’s Grill & Bar in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. is now preparing to file additional lawsuits on behalf of at least twenty-eight (28) new Plaintiffs by next week. Twenty-three (23) of those claimants were struck with the severe illness due to this epidemic, which occurred sometime between June 23 and June 30, 2003.

Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. in Waukegan, Illinois is working around the clock in hopes that its efforts will protect the rights of their clients and to prevent an outbreak such as this from ever happening again. Due to the growing number of potential cases, Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. is researching the possibility of filing a class action lawsuit against Brinker International, Inc., Brinker Restaurant Corporation, and Chili’s, Inc.

Continued research and an ongoing thorough investigation will also soon reveal whether or not Salvi will seek punitive damages. Specifically, the firm is researching whether or not the restaurant acted with an utter indifference and reckless disregard to the safety of the public.

"Through ongoing diligent research and investigation by our Firm’s experienced team of attorneys, law clerks and staff; we are trying to determine the full extent of Chili’s misconduct," said David J. Frankel, an attorney in the Salvi firm. "In addition, we are concerned that at least hundreds of Chili’s customers may have also needlessly suffered salmonella poisoning due to Chili’s misconduct," added Salvi.

Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. has been successfully serving Lake County for over 20 years. Routinely listed in Chicago Lawyer magazine as one of the top Plaintiff law firms in Illinois, the Firm has successfully won 80 separate verdicts or settlements of $1 million or more in various types of personal injury and wrongful death cases totaling over $231 million.
