Donald R. McGarrah concentrates his practice of law in several specialized areas which include complex, catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability matters, and significant commercial disputes involving issues relating to breach of contract, promissory estoppel, tortious interference with contractual relations, fraud, constructive fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, quantum meruit, and civil conspiracy. Mr. McGarrah also serves as the firm's General Counsel/Risk Manager.
Since joining the firm as a Partner in January, 2003, Mr. McGarrah has recovered over $30 million on behalf of firm clients.
Prior to joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. McGarrah spent 22 years with the Wildman Harrold law firm wherein his responsibilities included national litigation management, coordination, and trial of product liability matters, counseling senior management for manufacturing clients on product related and risk management issues, including warnings, design, recalls and retrofits, potential punitive damages issues, selection and preparation of experts used in litigation on a national basis, and preparation of senior management and engineering personnel to testify in pending litigation. Mr. McGarrah's responsibilities also included the representation of firm clients in commercial litigation matters and the representation of physicians in complex, high exposure medical malpractice cases.
Mr. McGarrah has handled and continues to handle litigation venued outside of Illinois for firm clients. In his career, he has served as lead trial counsel in the successful resolution of matters pending in 37 different states for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Mr. McGarrah serves on the Chicago Board of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA), an organization dedicated to building awareness, providing education and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children. Mr. McGarrah was also recently selected to sit on the Board of Directors for the United Service Organizations of Illinois. The USO is a civilian non-profit serving the needs of the military community since 1941 through the generosity of the American people.
