Family Files Wrongful Death Suit in Fatal McHenry Crash

Sycamore man struck by Woodstock doctor on route 120.

McHenry County, IL – A wrongful death lawsuit was recently filed and served today in McHenry County by the law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., on behalf of a 49-year-old man who died from a collision on April 29, 2011, involving a motorcycle and two cars. 

According to the police investigation, Scott Johnson of Sycamore, deceased, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on route 120 when the defendant, 86-year-old, James Haughton M.D., driving eastbound, failed to yield while turning left.  Haughton was ticketed for the accident.  The defendant, driving a PT Cruiser then hit a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck.  According to the law suit, the innocent plaintiff died of injuries sustained at the crash.

“This horrific death was a tragedy and could have been avoided if the defendant had been more careful,” said lead Plaintiff’s attorney Patrick A. Salvi of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C.  “Scott Johnson was a great father, husband and friend and will be missed dearly.  We are committed to seeing justice is served for the Johnson family.”

Scott Johnson was an avid muskie fisherman and loved watching and following wild eagles, loved sports cars and was a talented mechanic.  He is survived by Kathy Johnson, and his two sons, Aaron, 27-years-old and Seth, 24-years-old.
