The importance of questions regarding specific verdict amounts during voir dire
The Illinois Supreme Court has stated that "[t]he purpose of voir dire is to assure the selection of an impartial panel of jurors who are free from bias or prejudice." During the examination, “a suitable inquiry is permissible in order to ascertain whether the juror has any bias, opinion, or prejudice that would affect or control the fair determination by him of the issues to be tried.”
