Chicago, IL (January 31, 2013) – Beth A. Heffernan, an associate attorney with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., and Vice Present and General Counsel of Salvi Sports Enterprises LLC, spoke at the “Practicing Sports Law” panel discussion on January 31 at the Marquette University Law School.
Heffernan joined other legal professionals in the sports industry in the one-hour discussion, which was a part of the law school’s “Speakers from Practice Series” and supported by the National Sports Law Institute and the school’s Sports Law Society.
The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including the day-to-day practice of the law in the sports field, intriguing current legal issues in sports and areas of the law that could play a crucial role in the development of sport in the coming years.
The session included a 15-minute question-and-answer session with students.
Heffernan has a deep background in business consulting, accounting and corporate taxation. She earned both her Juris Doctorate and Masters of Law in Taxation degrees from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.
Currently, Heffernan oversees all business and legal affairs of the Schaumburg Boomers, Gary SouthShore RailCats and North Shore Navigators baseball teams as well as the business development activities of Salvi Sports Enterprises LLC. She also provides counsel and strategic advice to clients in matters involving potential acquisitions.
