Racine, population 81,835, serves as the seat and center of commerce of Racine County.  This spectacular city, known as the “Belle City of the Lakes”, hosts several masterpieces of the late Frank Lloyd Wright.  These include the SC Johnson Headquarters building and the Golden Rondelle Theater, both of which are public facilities.  Privately owned buildings designed by Wright include Hardy House and the Johnson Foundation’s Wingspread Conference Center. 

Racine County provides a wealth of interesting sites to see and things to do.  The Wind Point Lighthouse, built in 1880, remains the oldest and tallest lighthouse operation on Lake Michigan.  This stunning, fully automated operation now hosts the town hall and tours for the public.  The Racine Art Museum and Racine Heritage Museum afford access to contemporary crafts, interactive exhibits and in-depth background stories concerning Hamilton Beach, Horlick’s Malted Milk and the area’s role in the Underground Railroad.  North Beach, a 50-acre sandy retreat, attracts visitors partially due to its ranking as a Certified Clean Beach by the Blue Wave Committee of Washington, D.C..

Racine County is well-known for local and international dining establishments.  Five local bakeries boast Kringle among their specialties.  Found predominately in Racine County, Kringle is an authentic oval-shaped Danish pastry.  The region also plays host to community events and celebrations, including the Big Fish Bash, the Great Lakes Brew Fest, Hot Rod Power Tour, Racine County Fair and the Spirit of Racine Triathlon.

Residents of Racine County, Wisconsin enjoy an excellent quality of life, with low crime rates and access to excellent public schools, a variety of private schools and several options for higher education.  Higher learning facilities include Gateway Technical College in Burlington and Milwaukee is home to Marquette University, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Mount Mary College and the University of Wisconsin.  In addition, its location on the busy span of interstate between Chicago and Milwaukee, known as the “Chiwaukee Corridor”, makes Racine County an appealing site for new and existing businesses.  Racine County’s situation in this highly accessible, pro-business region provides a diverse base of industry and a healthy economy.
