For the third year in a row, the Chicago personal injury law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C., is sponsoring our Scholarship Essay Contest to support education and raise awareness about important safety issues.
We will be awarding a total of eight scholarships worth a combined total of $2,500. Our winners will be announced on Monday, May 16th.
The deadline to submit your complete entry is Saturday, April 30. Don’t miss it!
In the first two years of our contest, we accepted entries from law school students across the country. You can see last year’s winning entries here.
This year, we are holding the contest for high school seniors and first-year college students within Illinois. We are also focusing on one topic: Distracted driving.
Students who are eligible to enter – please see our General Rules for details – are being asked to write an essay between 750 and 1,500 words that answers the question, “How serious is the problem of distracted driving among young drivers?”
Students should define distracted driving, describe any personal experiences with distracted driving and provide suggestions on what can be done to encourage young drivers to avoid this risky driving behavior.
We are looking for essays that make points that are supported by statistics, surveys, studies or news stories. We also are seeking essays that are clear, accurate, original and logically organized. Use of proper grammar is a must.
After we receive all entries by our Saturday, April 30 deadline, our panel of judges will select the top eight essays and award the following scholarships:
The scholarship funds can be used for tuition or for any school-related expenses.
When we announce our winners on Monday, May 16th, we will post the top three essays and a list of all of our winners.
Make sure to check out our Frequently Asked Questions section and download the application form. Feel free to submit any inquiries about our Scholarship Essay Contest to email@example.com. (No phone calls please.)
This contest provides an excellent way for entrants to learn more about distracted driving, share their insights with others and – above all – earn money for their education.
