I’ve always wanted to be one that could really stand up and advocate for a client. I’m Nikole Messerschmidt and I’m an associate at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard. I wanted to be an attorney ever since I was in fifth grade. I started off working in Elkhorn, Wisconsin at the Warrick [SP] County prosecutor’s office and I’ve also had the opportunity to work here in Cook County for a judge, and a few judges also in Indiana.
Salvi, Schostok & Prichard has a great reputation not only just in Chicago, but throughout the entire state of Illinois. So I feel really lucky to work alongside great trial attorneys and to learn from them also.
The clients make it the best job ever. A lotta times clients come to our firm and they’re in a really tough spot and we’re there to help them and try to give them guidance as to how to handle their case. And they put a lotta trust in us, so I mean, I guess kinda makes you feel good. They, you know, give everything over to us and then we have to make sure that we help them to the best of our ability.
Personal Injury is a slip and fall, it’s a car accident, it’s something that you and I, we all do every single day. Been in car accidents a few times in my life and I think that’s helped me gain an understanding of what my clients may also be going through.
I understand the pain that one may go through, the emotional and mental insecurity you may feel getting back to the car for the first time, so I understand even if you don’t come out with a broken bone and people just have soft tissue injuries, I understand that. You may not be able to make them feel 100% better, but you can help, you know, try to compensate them and try to become whole.
At the end of the day, a client can look at you and smile and say thank you. That means the most.
