My name is David Pritchard. I am a partner in the law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard. I became lawyer almost 40 years ago. If I had to guess, I would say it was from some TV show that I saw about lawyers because I really didn’t know anything about lawyers at that time. We don’t have any lawyers in the family. I didn’t know any lawyers. I came from a pretty simple family. My dad was raised in Maryville Orphanage. I was the oldest of seven kids. Being a lawyer was something I didn’t really know much about. Here I am.

I really do like the clients. I like my partners, I like my team that I work. I like the challenge of it. The cases are very hard and if you don’t really work hard and focus and give it your best you’re simply not gonna win. I was a defense attorney. I was on the other side. I had been defending doctors and hospitals for about 22 years in medical malpractice cases. Pat Salvi approached me and said, “How would you like to join our firm? We’d like you to open our Chicago office, and if things work out, we’ll make you a name partner.” And luckily for me things worked out.

Done every type of medical malpractice case from head to toe. I’ve done a podiatry case, I’ve done brain surgery cases. I take it very seriously. I read medical literature, I’m up to date particularly in cancer cases and birth injury cases.

You’re good at the things you like and you like the things you’re good at. I tend to handle larger, more complicated cases and they take a while to get to trial and to be completed so, you really get to know the people. There’s just bonding over time. I have so many families that I still go to birthday parties of their kids and graduations and even though their cases have been over for 10 years and we’ll still talk and exchange cards. And I got photos of bunch of kids and families behind my desk in my office. It’s a great part of the job.
