Patrick A. Salvi is the Founder and Equity Partner of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard. His vision and dedication to trial law laid the foundation for the firm more than four decades ago.
Since founding the firm in 1982, Mr. Salvi has devoted his career to representing individuals and families who have been affected by catastrophic injuries, medical negligence, and wrongful death. He has helped build Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard into one of Illinois’ most respected and successful personal injury firms, with more than $3.5 billion in verdicts and settlements on behalf of its clients.
Mr. Salvi’s career began in 1978, when he joined his father, Albert S. Salvi, in practice shortly after graduating from Notre Dame Law School. After several years handling a broad range of matters, he found his calling in trial law and advocating for injured individuals. In 1982, he established his own firm in Lake County, Illinois. His early successes quickly established his reputation as a formidable trial attorney, while his innovative approach to preparing complex cases helped set the standard for the firm.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Salvi has obtained numerous record-setting verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. His results include a $241 million wrongful death jury verdict, a $210.25 million wrongful death settlement, a $148 million Illinois record personal injury verdict, and a $60 million wrongful death settlement. His results reflect his willingness to take on difficult cases and his commitment to meticulous trial preparation.
Mr. Salvi’s influence on the legal community extends well beyond his own courtroom victories. He has been recognized nationally and throughout Illinois as one of the country’s leading trial attorneys. He has been named to Best Lawyers in America for medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability every year since 2005 and has been selected to the Illinois Super Lawyers Top 10 list every year since 2014. In 2021, he was inducted into the Lawdragon 500 Hall of Fame, and that same year he became the 26th recipient of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s prestigious “Leonard M. Ring Lifetime Achievement Award.” In 2023, he received the Illinois Bar Foundation’s “Distinguished Award for Excellence,” recognizing his remarkable contributions to the legal profession.
Throughout his career, Mr. Salvi has also remained committed to strengthening the legal profession and helping shape the next generation of trial lawyers. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and a former President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He has served on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions in Civil Cases and chaired the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar. He is also a regular speaker at various legal conferences and educational programs.
Perhaps one of Mr. Salvi’s most enduring accomplishments is the firm he built. What began in 1982 as the Law Office of Patrick A. Salvi grew into a nationally recognized personal injury firm through successful cases and a reputation for exceptional trial work. Mr. Salvi is especially proud of the firm’s continued commitment to family. His eldest son, Patrick Salvi II, joined the firm in 2007 and now serves as Managing Equity Partner; his son Brian joined in 2013; and his daughter-in-law, Eirene Salvi, joined in 2015. Michael J. Schostok, the son of his late partner Michael P. Schostok, also joined the firm in 2019. Together, they represent the continuation of a firm built on Mr. Salvi’s original vision: preparing every case with the goal of achieving the best possible result while treating every client with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Mr. Salvi earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and his law degree from Notre Dame Law School in 1978. He has remained closely connected to his alma mater, including through his service as an adjunct faculty member at the law school and on the Notre Dame Law School Advisory Council.
Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Salvi enjoys traveling, particularly to Italy, spending time with his wife, Lindy, and their family, and making memories with his 11 grandchildren.
