David J. Rashid is a Partner at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard who has built a reputation as one of the premier medical malpractice trial attorneys in the state of Illinois. Mr. Rashid represents individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by medical negligence, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death, with particular experience handling cases involving misdiagnosis, surgical errors, birth injuries, and emergency room errors. Since joining the firm in 2023, Mr. Rashid has recovered more than $575 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Rashid’s work requires a deep understanding of complex medical issues, and he brings a meticulous and analytical approach to every case. He works closely with leading medical experts to identify where healthcare providers failed to meet the standard of care and develop a trial strategy to hold negligent providers and hospitals accountable.
In his first trial with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Rashid won a $32.7 million jury verdict for a man who suffered a life-altering foot amputation after doctors failed to recognize signs of a blood clot. The verdict is the highest Illinois verdict for the loss of one leg or foot.
Mr. Rashid has continued to achieve significant results in complex medical negligence cases, including a $28 million medical malpractice settlement. He also holds records for medical malpractice verdicts in Cook County and medical malpractice settlements in Cook, Richland, and Crawford Counties.
Mr. Rashid’s trial practice also extends to other catastrophic-injury and wrongful-death cases. In 2026, Mr. Rashid was part of a trial team that obtained a $241 million jury verdict for the family of a Missouri man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his work as a courier. The verdict included $49.5 million in compensatory damages and $191.5 million in punitive damages.

Outside the courtroom, Mr. Rashid is passionate about sharing his experience and educating the next generation of lawyers. He has lectured on medical malpractice and trial advocacy at the University of Notre Dame Law School and the United Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In 2023, he presented Medical Grand Rounds to the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He has also appeared on numerous legal podcasts, including “The Results Podcast,” a series presented by Trial Lawyers University.
Before joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Rashid practiced at another prominent Chicago personal injury firm, where he secured more than $130 million in verdicts and settlements. He began his legal career as a law clerk with the Office of the Chief Prosecutor for the U.S. Office of Military Commissions.
In his free time, Mr. Rashid enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. He is also an avid reader and sports fan.
