GREEN OAKS, Ill. (July 24) – A new father was killed when his motorcycle collided with a dump truck while on his way to pick up his wife and 3-day-old newborn baby from the hospital.
The crash occurred in Green Oaks, Illinois, around 2:35 p.m. on Friday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was traveling through an intersection with a green light when a dump truck made a left turn in front of him, resulting in a collision.
The impact caused the father to be ejected from his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries to the head and neck, reported the Lake County Coroner.
The driver of the dump truck, a 50-year-old McHenry man, was not injured.
Tragically, the father never had the chance to hold his daughter at home, according to Yahoo! News.
The crash is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
