EVANSTON, Ill. (August 28, 2025) – A man has been picked up by police in his home country of Poland and will be returned to Cook County in connection with a high-speed crash that claimed the life of Evanston mail carrier Arthur Matillano.
Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard represented the family of Mr. Matillano and obtained a $12 million settlement for their loss.
Attorney Brian L. Salvi spoke with Evanston Now about the arrest of the defendant, Sebastian Kuczek.
“The Matillano family has patiently waited for this moment for years while the defendant avoided his charges abroad. It has been a long and difficult process for them. As their attorney, I am pleased that this development will provide this family with a bit of relief and peace,” he said.
