WAUKEGAN, Ill. (September 3, 2025) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorney Jennifer L. Ashley recently obtained a $1 million settlement on behalf of a man who was injured in a Lake County crash with a work van.

On December 15, 2022, Defendant Joseph Sobyra was driving a 2013 Ford E250 in the course of his employment with Atlas Toyota Material Handling, LLC along Center Street in Grayslake, Ill. Defendant Sobyra attempted to make a left turn onto Route 83 on a green light but failed to yield the right of way to Plaintiff Noah Lamb. Defendant Sobyra admitted he misjudged oncoming eastbound traffic and struck Lamb’s vehicle. However, Defendants filed affirmative defenses that Mr. Lamb was contributorily negligent.

Mr. Lamb had extensive damage to his vehicle. He denied an ambulance at the scene, but went to the ER the next day with neck and back pain. Two weeks later, he went to his primary care physician with bilateral shoulder pain. Mr. Lamb failed conservative treatment, including steroid injections and physical therapy.

One-year post-collision, Mr. Lamb had left shoulder arthroscopic surgery; and one year after that, Mr. Lamb had right shoulder arthroscopic surgery. Mr. Lamb was unable to perform his job as a carpenter and painter immediately after the collision and for a period following both surgeries.

The parties agreed to settle the case for Defendant, Atlas Toyota Material Handling, LLC‘s insurance policy limit with Traveler’s Insurance.
