EVANSTON, Ill. (September 2, 2025) – A man who fled the country after killing a beloved Evanston mail carrier in a 2020 Wheeling crash, was located and arrested in his home country of Poland recently.
Sebastian Kuczek, 46, the driver of the “high performance Jaguar,” rear-ended the vehicle being driven by Arthur Matillano, 62, while traveling on Lake Cook Road in Wheeling on around 7:30 p.m. on June 23, 2020. The Jaguar was being driven over 150 miles per hour. Mr. Matillano was on his way home from work after ending his shift that was based at the main Evanston post office. His route was in Skokie where he delivered mail for 15 years.
Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard represented the family of Mr Matillano and obtained a $12 million settlement on their behalf.
