WIFR: Jury awards $9 million to family of father, son killed in Boone Co. crash
BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – A Boone County jury awarded a record-breaking verdict of $9 million to the family of a father and 22-year-old son who were killed in car crash in 2018. The verdict is the highest on record in Boone County, and the case is one of the few civil jury trials during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The family wanted to get it resolved, we could have said let’s wait until it’s back to normal, but we really didn’t have that luxury. We wanted to get it done,” Lead Plaintiff’s attorney Patrick A. Salvi told Courtney Sisk of WIFR-TV. “It worked out well, and the family believes they absolutely got a fair trial.”
