Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard listed among top five Illinois law firms in 2023 Chicago Lawyer Settlement Survey

CHICAGO (October 27, 2023) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. is pleased to announce the firm was highlighted in Chicago Lawyer Magazine’s 2023 Settlement Survey as one of the top five law firms in the state of Illinois.

Each year, Chicago Lawyer and the Illinois Jury Verdict Reporter — sister publications within Law Bulletin Media — examine the top reported settlements. This year’s rankings are based on 439 Illinois settlements of $500,000 or more submitted to the Jury Verdict Reporter between August 1, 2023 and July 31, 2023. The report includes confidential settlements for which the Jury Verdict Reporter editors were able to verify details between the parties.

The 2023 JVR Settlements Report features 103 law firms, including 43 firms that returned to the rankings from last year’s report and 60 new firms.

“This year’s report features 163 settlements of $2 million or more, a record for the JVR Settlements Report,” Law Bulletin Media President Peter Mierzwa said. “Compared to last year’s report, the average and median settlements increased significantly. Average settlement value increased 48% to $2.9 million. In 2022, it was $1.9 million. Also, this year’s report showed premises liability cases reached a record total of $147 million.”

According to Chicago Lawyer, Cook County cases far exceeded cases from other Illinois counties, with 71% of the cases and more than 84% of the total settlement dollars. The total amount for these cases was $1.2 billion.

In 2023, Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. ranked in the top five law firms in terms of reported settlements, settling 23 cases for a total of $75,006,333.00. The firm’s top case of the year was a $20 million settlement on behalf of a female plaintiff who suffered severe injuries to her leg and ankle when she was dragged by a CTA bus for 27 feet.
