$4 Million Settlement Among Largest Settlements Of Its Kind In Cook County History
CHICAGO, IL - Patrick A. Salvi and Tara R. Devine of the law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, obtained a $4 million settlement against Stanley Steemer International, Inc. and one of its employees. It is believed to be the third largest traffic accident death settlements ever reported in Cook County.
On August 1, 2006, the Plaintiff was traveling east bound on Miller Road near Lake Zurich, IL, when he was struck by a Stanley Steemer International, Inc. van driven by Thomas Saviano, a Stanley Steemer employee. Mr. Saviano, traveling southbound on Route 12, ran a red light causing a collision with the Plaintiff’s vehicle—causing the Plaintiff’s death. Mr. Saviano was acting within the scope of his employment at the time of the accident. Stanley Steemer, an Ohio based corporation and one of the nation’s largest residential and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning services, admitted liability for the accident and does not allege that the Plaintiff was guilty of contributory negligence. The case settled just after the jury selection process.
