CHICAGO (Salvi Law) – The NFL season officially kicks off Thursday night when the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium.
Ahead of this 2016-2017 football season, safety is top of mind. According to the New York Daily News, the NFL Players Association sent all players in the league an educational video about concussions as part of the preparation for the season and to educate the pros on how to treat and identify concussions.
The video, which can be viewed below, breaks down what happens to the brain when you suffer a concussion, the symptoms, and protocols that have been put in place for players to report concussions.
The American Academy of Neurology, which helped produce the video, is urging players to follow the theme of “when in doubt, check it out” this season. The video stresses that players have an important role in taking care of their own health.
Many pro-football players have spoken out about suffering concussions during their career.
