Kristen M. Stoicescu is an Associate at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard who represents individuals and families in cases involving mass torts, medical negligence, personal injury, and product liability. Since joining the firm in 2024, Ms. Stoicescu has brought a unique perspective to plaintiff litigation, drawing on her experience representing corporate defendants in high-stakes cases.
Prior to joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, she clerked for Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The federal appellate clerkship gave her an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of legal research, appellate advocacy, and the judicial process.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a litigation associate at two leading defense firms, where she represented corporations in matters involving mass torts, intellectual property litigation, government investigations, commercial disputes, and bankruptcy proceedings. That experience gave her firsthand insight into how large corporations and their legal teams approach litigation and defend complex claims. She now uses that knowledge to advocate for individuals and families seeking justice following an injury or medical error.
Ms. Stoicescu has already played a role in some of the firm’s noteworthy verdicts. In 2026, she was part of a trial team that won a $241 million jury verdict for the family of a Missouri man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his work as a courier. The verdict included $49.5 million in compensatory damages and $191.5 million in punitive damages. That same year, she was part of a trial team that won a $52 million jury verdict for the family of an 88-year-old man who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Stockton, Illinois, that also left his adult son seriously injured.
In recognition of her outstanding results, Ms. Stoicescu has been named to Best Lawyers’ “Ones to Watch” list and Illinois Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars.” She has also been recognized by Law Bulletin Media as an “Emerging Lawyer.”
Ms. Stoicescu’s background reflects a longstanding passion for trial advocacy and commitment to public service. In law school, she was a captain of the Bartlit Center National Trial Team—winning first place and best advocate at multiple national tournaments—as well as a moot court competitor and coach. She also served as an executive editor of the Northwestern University Law Review, a summer honors program intern at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., an extern to a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, as a teaching assistant for criminal law and advanced trial advocacy courses, and a student attorney in Northwestern’s criminal defense clinic, where she represented indigent defendants charged with felony offenses in Cook County.
Ms. Stoicescu graduated cum laude from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in 2020. After graduating, she served as a Public Interest Legal Initiative Graduate Fellow with the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic, where she represented low-income individuals in civil enforcement and domestic relations matters.
In 2025, she was selected to serve a one-year term on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit’s Appellate Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel and is serving as court-appointed counsel in two direct federal criminal appeals.
Ms. Stoicescu also has a background in scientific research. She conducted neuroscience research in the Department of Psychology at Northern Illinois University and co-authored an article published in the October 2013 issue of the peer-reviewed journal PLOS One on a vaccine candidate for lymphatic filariasis, a neglected tropical disease commonly known as elephantiasis.
Outside of the courtroom, Ms. Stoicescu enjoys the outdoors, the arts, and playing volleyball.
