Matthew L. Williams is an Equity Partner at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard who has built a reputation as one of the firm’s premier medical malpractice trial attorneys. For more than two decades, he has dedicated his career to representing individuals and families whose lives have been forever changed by medical negligence, birth injuries, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death. Through meticulous preparation, compelling courtroom advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to his clients, he has recovered more than $575 million for injured individuals and their families.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Williams has played a leading role in some of the firm’s most notable medical malpractice cases. He is known for taking on challenging cases that require extensive medical knowledge, collaboration with nationally recognized experts, and the ability to present complicated issues clearly and persuasively before a jury. Since joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Williams has secured numerous record-setting verdicts and settlements.
Among his most notable achievements are two jury verdicts exceeding $50 million in medical malpractice cases – a $75.8 million verdict on behalf of a young girl who suffered a brain injury and severe physical injuries at birth, and a $50.3 million jury verdict for a child who suffered a severe and permanent brain injury at birth. In 2025, he won a $20.5 million jury verdict on behalf of the family of a little girl in remission from leukemia who died due to morphine toxicity from medications prescribed by her healthcare providers.
In addition to his trial work, Mr. Williams has successfully argued before the Illinois Supreme Court and has handled appeals involving significant legal issues affecting injured individuals throughout the state.

A graduate of the University of Illinois and DePaul University’s College of Law, Mr. Williams’ work has earned him consistent recognition among the legal profession’s most respected organizations. He has been selected annually to the Illinois Super Lawyers list and recognized among the Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers. He has also been honored annually by Best Lawyers in the areas of Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Litigation and holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, the organization’s highest distinction for professional excellence and ethical standards as evaluated by fellow attorneys and members of the judiciary.
Beyond his courtroom practice, Mr. Williams has served in leadership roles with the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has devoted significant time to advancing the plaintiff’s trial bar through education and advocacy. He has also lectured at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, where he has spoken on trial advocacy, persuasion, and litigation strategy.
Mr. Williams is deeply committed to serving his community. He is currently on the board of directors for three local charity organizations, including Kids Above All, Raising a Reader, and the Michael Matters Foundation.
